FAQ
Questions from the bay
Short answers for anyone standing up seasonal tire storage — shops, dealers, multi-bay shops, and changeover bays.
What is tire storage software?
Tire storage software helps shops that store customer winter and summer sets. You take intake (customer, vehicle, set), add photos, put the set on a map, print a label, run swap/pickup, and keep who-changed-what so changeover week isn’t a scavenger hunt.
Rackline also sends changeover emails and keeps condition notes with the set. Demo · Free includes 10 active sets · Sign up now on Plus / Premium.
How do shops avoid lost sets?
Treat stored tires like inventory. Every set needs a customer record, a bay, a label, and a pickup path. Paper tags fail when the bay fills up.
With Rackline you map containers and wall racks, print Brother QL-810W labels on DK-1202 (generic OK; printer sold separately), and look up by bay or scan at pickup. Photos and who-changed-what cut down disputes. Demo at racklineapp.com.
Do dealerships need DMS integration first?
Not to start. A lot of service departments only need in-house seasonal storage that advisors and techs will use.
Rackline does intake, map, labels, and swap/pickup without waiting on a DMS project. Ask sales@racklineapp.com if you want to talk about a custom integration later. Demo · Sign up now on paid plans.
What’s Free / Plus / Premium?
Free — 10 active sets (phone-only). Plus — 250 active sets, $24.99 CAD/mo + tax. Premium — 2,000, $49.99 CAD/mo + tax.
Label printing is included on Plus and Premium. No plan includes a printer.
Is Rackline a place I can drop tires off?
No. A lot of search results are consumer storage warehouses. Rackline is software for tire dealers, shops, multi-bay shops, and dealerships that already store customer sets. Sold online. Rackline does not operate local warehouses. If you run a storage program: Demo or Free (10 sets).
Who is Rackline for?
Anyone who stores tires for a seasonal swap: independent shops, tire dealers, dealership service departments, multi-bay shops, and dedicated changeover operations. If you store winter and summer sets and need intake, a map, and a label the customer can scan at pickup, this is the product. One container or one wall rack is enough.
How do I get started and sign in?
On the web at www.racklineapp.com, tap Sign up. The steps are the same: shop profile (username, password, shop address, email, phone, shop size, tires to store), confirm email, sign in, choose a plan. Paid unlock is Plus or Premium on Square web. Passwords are hashed and never shown. Try demo (in the site menu on a phone) is an isolated sample shop for this session only — it never mixes with real shop data.
Two roles: Admin (Team, Setup, map, reports, billing, inventory) and Tech (floor intake, photos, lookup, swap, print). Admin Add user stays on desktop Team. Techs can also self-serve on Tech sign up with the shop join code from Team — name, email, and password only. They must join an existing shop. Tech upload stays free and does not use a paid seat.
How do I import inventory?
Admin Shop or Setup accepts a Google Sheet URL and a CSV or Excel (.xlsx) upload. You preview the mapped rows, then replace the bay. Empty cells stay empty — Rackline does not invent tire size, tread, DOT, or manufacturer specs.
You can also enter sets one at a time with guided intake. Try demo is a sample shop for this browser session only.
How do labels print?
Plus and Premium include software support for Brother QL-810W label printing on locked DK-1202 die-cut labels (2.4" × 3.9" / 62 × 100 mm, media 202). The huge floor read is the bay number (C1-01). The QR is 24 mm so a phone can scan it at pickup. No plan includes a physical printer.
Buy the printer and labels separately. On the iPhone, Print finds the QL-810W on the shop Wi-Fi and sends the label directly. On the website, printing uses a small office helper on a Mac or Windows PC. That avoids the Brother “wrong label size” dialog you get from a browser print or AirPrint. Map → Print map uses ordinary office paper and never uses the DK-1202 label roll.
How do map bays and the post-swap reset work?
Each bay is a sequential number such as C1-01 (door end first, left to right). Setup sets how many tires fit in one bay (4 unless the shop changes it). A bay holds sets until that tire count is full — two 4-tire sets fit an 8-tire bay. Intake will not park a set that would go over. Rename a cell anytime.
After a seasonal swap, Admin uses Map → Reset placements after swap. That clears location fields and rebuilds grid labels. Tire records stay. Facilities stay.
What hardware should I buy?
Printer and DK-1202 labels are purchased separately. No Rackline plan includes a printer in the box.
Locked label stock is DK-1202 only (2.4" × 3.9" / 62 × 100 mm). Brother Genuine DK-1202 or compatible DK-1202 (same 2.4×3.9). Shop printer is the Brother QL-810W (Wi-Fi). Canada store links are below.
What do the plans include?
Free — 10 active sets. Included with web sign-in. Phone intake, photos, lookup, and swap.
Plus — 250 active sets. Desktop web manager plus QL-810W label printing (printer sold separately).
Premium — 2,000 active sets. Same web manager and QL print as Plus, more paid seats. Tech upload is free on every plan.
Is my shop’s data secure?
Each shop’s inventory is scoped to that shop. Shops do not see each other’s sets.
Real accounts sign in with a username and password. Passwords are hashed (never shown). Shop → Delete my account permanently removes that login. Try demo is a sample shop for this browser session only and never writes into a real shop.
Rackline has not completed a third-party security audit (such as SOC 2). Here is what we do today: the production site is HTTPS, each shop only sees its own inventory, and passwords are hashed.
