Spreadsheet vs software

Tire storage spreadsheet vs software

What a spreadsheet already holds

A tire storage spreadsheet can hold names, phone numbers, tire sizes, and a bay code in columns. Many shops start there, or in a sheet exported from somewhere else. Rackline can import that list from CSV, Excel, or Google Sheets, and every plan can export CSV again. The sheet is a fine place to begin. It is a weak place to run changeover once the containers are full.

This page is not a ranking of other products. It is the difference between a grid of cells on a computer and the storage work Rackline actually does: a bay map, a tire count per bay, a label, a storage receipt, and a history of who changed the set.

What the bay still needs

A spreadsheet does not know that a bay holds 4 tires by default, or that this shop set the capacity to something else up to 24. It will not refuse a new set that would push the bay past that count. It will not show a fill line of tires used against the capacity, including a bay that is full or over. The person at the container has to trust the last person who edited the cell.

A mismatched set is awkward in a sheet. Extra columns multiply, or someone adds another row and the vehicle becomes two sets by accident. In Rackline, Mismatched set stays one set. Each tire on that set has its own make, model, size, DOT, and tread. You do not enter them as different sets. The bay, the label, and the pickup still belong to the one set.

A sheet also does not print a Brother QL-810W label, does not put a QR code on DK-1202 stock, and does not email a storage receipt when the set is saved. Plus and Premium do the label. Intake asks Yes or No for the receipt and still saves if the email is blank. The phone the tech carries into the container runs Rackline in the browser. The sheet stays on the office computer.

Moving the list across

If the shop already has a spreadsheet, import it, then put each active set on the map and print labels as you walk the bays. Plus is $24.99 CAD per month for 250 active sets, the web manager, 5 office seats, and label printing. Premium is $49.99 CAD per month for 2,000 active sets and 12 office seats. Both prices are before tax, as on the pricing page. Free is 10 active sets on the phone, without the web manager and without label printing. Toll-free support is 1-866-414-8119.

What the shop records

A tech checks a set in on a phone, in the browser. The same shop login opens the web office, and the phone and the web share the shop’s cloud data. Intake records the customer, the vehicle, the tire details, and the tread depth the tech enters. Condition photos stay with the set as a record of what came in. The shop can import an existing list from CSV, Excel, or Google Sheets, and every plan can export CSV.

When the tires on one vehicle do not match, turn Mismatched set on. Off keeps one make, model, size, DOT, and tread for the whole set. On records each tire on this set — you do not enter them as different sets. Each tire can have its own make, model, size, DOT date code, and tread depth, while the vehicle still has one set, one bay, one label, and one pickup.

The bay map is the shop’s layout of shipping containers and wall racks, with numbered bays. Tires-per-bay capacity is stored on that map. The default is 4 tires, and the shop can set the capacity from 1 up to 24. The bay line shows how many tires are in the bay against that capacity, including a full bay and an older stack that sits over the cap. Intake will not add a set that would push the bay past its tire count.

Plus and Premium include label printing in the app. Labels print on a Brother QL-810W using DK-1202 stock, 2.4 inches by 3.9 inches (62 × 100 mm). Brother Genuine DK-1202 or compatible DK-1202 both work. The printer and the labels are sold separately. No plan includes a physical printer. The QL-810W can print from a phone or a desktop when the printer is on the same Wi-Fi as the device doing the print. The label carries the bay number for the floor and a QR code for pickup.

At intake the shop answers Yes or No to Send storage receipt and can type a customer email. Yes, with a valid email, emails a storage receipt when the set is saved. If the address is missing, the set can still be saved. No skips the receipt. Save works if you skip the email. Later, office staff can add or fix the customer email on the set and send the storage receipt from the web.

Public prices match the pricing page and are in Canadian dollars before tax. Plus is $24.99 CAD per month: 250 active sets, 5 office seats, the web manager, and label printing. Premium is $49.99 CAD per month: 2,000 active sets, 12 office seats, and the same web manager and label printing. Free is 10 active sets, phone only, with no web manager and no label printing. Released sets do not count toward the active-set cap. Tech upload and photos do not use a paid seat. Swap and pickup can start from a label scan or a lookup, and the set keeps a who-changed-what history. Customer emails, including changeover emails, are on every plan. The toll-free number is 1-866-414-8119. Rackline is operated by 1984777 Ontario Inc., Ontario, Canada.

Questions

Can Rackline take a spreadsheet we already have?

Yes. Import from CSV, Excel, or Google Sheets. Every plan can also export CSV. Import brings the list in. The bay map, labels, and receipts are the steps after that.

Why is a spreadsheet a weak bay record?

A sheet does not store tires-per-bay capacity, does not block an over-full bay, does not print a DK-1202 label, and does not email a storage receipt. Those are shop-floor steps, not extra columns.

How should a mismatched set be written?

On one set. Turn Mismatched set on and record each tire there. You do not enter them as different sets, and you do not need a second spreadsheet row to keep them together.

Does this page compare named products?

No. It describes a generic spreadsheet against Rackline’s map, capacity, labels, receipts, and history. It does not name other software.

What does it cost to leave the sheet?

Plus is $24.99 CAD per month and Premium is $49.99 CAD per month, before tax. On the floor, Rackline runs in any phone browser. The printer is sold separately. Call 1-866-414-8119.
